conquering the deep-end...

Gabe Stone and the "deep-end" now go together like peanut butter and jelly.

he overcame the last of his diving board reservations for a measly five dollars.

personally i would have held out for ten.. everybody's got their price i guess.

here's what "Mexican Christian" and "Brigette Nielsen Candy" would look like.

hanging out with the Thomas's is a past-time i have genuinely missed during their self-imposed exile to Ventura.

welcome back to Los Angeles guys... it wasn't the same without you.

sometimes forever starts on a Saturday...

my friend Mike got married on saturday and it was beautiful.

he found a really amazing girl...

and he promised to love her forever in front of a whole bunch of people.

forever is a very long time Mike!

my friend Mike is a very smart guy...

these are the days...

army paraphernalia for the troops on the homefront.

never underestimate the power of the armed forces over the mind of a child.

five weeks is way too long to wait between spray n' washes.

and it's the perfect time to be back home.

summer is just beginning.

and everyone is relaxing a little and enjoying life.

so far it has been an amazing year... to think that it is already halfway over!

and the best is yet to come...

suck it up...

hmmm... where do i start? i'm a little overwhelmed by the experiences of the past five days to say the least. i'm still two plane rides and 24 hours away from home and i don't think it has all completely sunk in yet. so.. i will just babble a bit and sort it all out later...

the serenity of the week off in Sydney seems like months ago after all that we've done in the past five days. first of all, the shows were an incredibly fulfilling experience. i'm so grateful and honored to have been able to play music for those people. they were all so genuinely happy to see us and to hear some rock n' roll it made the whole trip worth while. our escorts were super accommodating and generous too. shout-outs to Sargeant Shanahan and Sargeant Nelson. thanks for keeping it light...

as we were whisked from base to base in C-130's, i couldn't help but feel a little guilty for the easy going life i've got in the states. if i'm ever feeling ungrateful or like things just aren't good enough, i can call on all the memories i have of sweating my ass off and being blasted by sand and wind with a 50 lb. kevlar vest and helmet on in the middle of the desert, oceans from home and family, to put it all back into perspective...

umbrellas do more than just stop the rain...

as some of you may already know, our week of shows in Australia was cancelled at the last minute. i'm still not clear on the reason why, other than Drowning Pool cancelled so the shows were cancelled. no matter. as much as we were looking forward to playing Australia (for the first time), a week vacation in Sydney sounded like a great alternative. especially to a bunch of guys who have been on tour for over a year and were about to begin a week long trip into a war zone. so we flew out some loved ones and went our separate ways to explore the city for six whole days. it rained five out of six days (ending a year long drought), which i actually found kind of nice.
so, what can i say about Sydney or Australia that has not already been said? it's incredibly beautiful? the sky seems bigger? the people are super laid back and hilarious as well? it's all true and then some. these people have got some stuff figured out that's for sure. right now it's at the top of my list of "Places to Move to When It's All Said and Done."

some of the best days of my life were spent in bed...

i really loved Japan. although a lot of what i saw of it was from the inside of hotels, vans, trains and taxis it was still very beautiful and poetic. on the one day off that we did have, Dougy and i made the most of it by hunting out a local scuba diving site and going snorkeling. it was my first time and it was such an incredible experience that it inspired me to stop smoking. don't ask me how snorkeling and smoking are connected... just know that somehow, being that close to nature and feeling the vastness of this planet contrasted with the insignificant time we have on it, you are given cause for self-reproach.
